Sus padres fueron Mateo Franulic y Zorka Zlatar. Estudió en el Liceo de Niñas de Antofagasta. Posteriormente, se trasladó a Santiago para estudiar inglés en el Instituto Pedagógico de la Universidad de Chile. Trabajó en la revista Hoy, y tras su cierre trabajó en la prestigiosa revista Ercilla en el año 1941. En ese espacio realizó entrevistas a los personajes más importantes de la política y cultura mundial: Roosevelt, el Mariscal Tito, Juan Domingo Perón, Vittorio Emmanuele Orlando, entre otros. Trabajó también en las emisoras de radios Nacional, Cooperativa, Agricultura y Minería. En el año 1957 fue laureada con el Premio Nacional de Periodismo. Ese mismo año, junto a Orlando Cabrera Leyva, fundaron el Círculo de Periodistas en el que se apoyó la creación de periodismo como carrera universitaria. Surgieron varios grupos que cobijaron a actores aficionados y donde incluso se presentaron obras de autoría y temática regional. Nacieron los grupos Fartum, Tespis, Máscaras, Gente, Post Data, Karetos o Taller Teatral Lacolet, entre otros. A este último grupo se integraron como autores teatrales el poeta Aristóteles España, que escribió varias piezas de corte infantil que fueron representadas por parte de los actores de Lacolet, y Eugenio Mimica Barassi, que adaptó al teatro su cuento Una dama para Juan, incluido en su primer libro Comarca Fueguina. Los ensayos se realizaron en el antiguo local de ANEF, en calle Roca de Punta Arenas, bajo la dirección general de Paulino González, de vasta trayectoria y experiencia. La producción, a cargo de Luis Andrade, lanzó incluso volantes impresos desde una avión, anunciando la presentación de la obra en adhesión al centenario de la inmigración eslava en la zona. Con el auspicio de la Universidad Técnica del Estado (UTE), el 14 de octubre de 1978 se realizó el esperado estreno de Una dama para Juan, con un Teatro Municipal totalmente lleno de espectadores. La obra estuvo en cartelera, en dos funciones diarias, hasta el día 18 de octubre. De corte costumbrista, en tres actos, trata de la vida porvenireña a comienzos del siglo XX, con personajes eslavos, chilotes, italianos, inmigrantes todos enfrentados a sus soledades. El argumento se centra en las vicisitudes de uno de los protagonistas, Iván Duvić, al engañar a una dama bonaerense para que lo acompañase hasta Porvenir, con intenciones de matrimonio. La música estuvo a cargo de Daslav Ursic y Miguel Palma (del Taller Alturas). Años más tarde, en 1995, Una dama para Juan volvió a ser escenificada, esta vez por la Compañía de Teatro Ilusiones, de Porvenir, bajo la dirección de Marco Lobos Pardo. El grupo realizó presentaciones en dicha ciudad además de una gira por Última Esperanza (Puerto Natales y Cerro Castillo), incluyendo Punta Arenas, con funciones para todo público y estudiantes. Aunque la obra nunca fue publicada en formato libro, queda como recuerdo y legado de una época floreciente para la actividad teatral en Magallanes.
